Jahre in der Buchdruckerei Bowyers angestellt, welcher ihn 1767 zum Compagnon annahm; nach Bowyers Tode vereinte er sich mit Dav. Home zur Herausgabe des Gentleman magazine, wurde 1804 Vorsteher der Londoner Buchhändlergesellschaft u. st. 1820. Bei ihm kamen heraus: Bibliotheca topographica britannica, Lond. 1780–90, 9 Bde., u.
