[868] Hatch (spr. hättsch), Edwin, engl. Theolog, geb. 4. Sept. 1835 in Derby, gest. 10. Nov. 1889 in Oxford, bekleidete 1859–66 in Kanada verschiedene Lehrstellen, wurde 1867 an der Universität Oxford angestellt, seit 1884 als Professor der Kirchengeschichte. Er schrieb: »The organisation of the early Christian Church« (Lond. 1881, 3. Aufl. 1888; deutsch von A. Harnack, Gießen 1883); »An introductory lecture on the study of ecclesiastical history« (1885); »The growth of Church institutions« (1887; deutsch von A. Harnack, Gießen 1888); »Essays in biblical Greek« (1889); »The influence of Greek ideas and usages upon the Christian Church« (6. Aufl. 1897; deutsch von Preuschen, Freiburg 1892); »Concordance to the Septuagint and other Greek versions of Old Testament« (mit Redpath, 1892–97, 6 Tle.; Suppl. 1900).
