Jan. 1904, studierte im Trinity College daselbst, wurde 1841 zum Fellow erwählt, nahm eine Pfarrstelle an und wurde 1866 Professor der Theologie in Dublin. Er schrieb außer zahlreichen theologischen Schriften (»Introduction to the study of the New Testament«, 7. Aufl. 1894; »Nonmiraculous christianity«, 2. Aufl. 1888; »Infallibility of the Church«, 2. Aufl. 1891, u.a.) wertvolle mathematische Lehrbücher: »Conic sections and modern algebraic and geometric methods« (1848, 6. Aufl. 1879); »Treatise on higher plane curves« (1852, 3. Aufl. 1879); »Lessons introductory to the modern higher Algebra« (1859, 4. Aufl. 1885); »Treatise on analytic geometry of three dimensions« (1862, 4. Aufl. 1882).
