Der Condor / Das Haidedorf
Die ersten beiden literarischen Veröffentlichungen Stifters sind noch voll romantischen Nachklanges. Im »Condor« will die Wienerin Cornelia zwei englischen Wissenschaftlern beweisen wozu Frauen fähig sind, indem sie sie auf einer Fahrt mit dem Ballon »Condor« begleitet - bedauerlicherweise wird sie dabei ohnmächtig. Über das »Haidedorf« schreibt Stifter in einem Brief an seinen Bruder: »Es war meine Mutter und mein Vater, die mir bei der Dichtung dieses Werkes vorschwebten, und alle Liebe, welche nur so treuherzig auf dem Lande, und unter armen Menschen zu finden ist..., alle diese Liebe liegt in der kleinen Erzählung.«
